How do I warm up a new sending domain?

Updated Nov 2, 2026

Warmup sends a small number of emails from your account to mailboxes controlled by MailRush and reports whether they landed in the inbox or spam.

Steps

  1. Publish SPF, DKIM and DMARC before sending.
  2. Go to Warming and turn warming on for the account.
  3. Watch the inbox and spam placement for each account. With fewer than 5 placements the page shows Early results or Early spam signal.
  4. Start campaigns with a low Daily Sending Limit and increase gradually once most placements reach the inbox.

How warmup works

  • Up to 10 warmup emails per day per account, a fixed number. The count resets at 12:00 UTC.
  • Once running, warmup sends about one email every 2 minutes until the daily target is reached.
  • New email accounts start with warming on. Their first warmup email is usually sent within about 10 minutes of the account becoming active, or within a few minutes of turning warming on in Warming.
  • Warmup emails count toward your plan's totals and the sender's limits; they are never sent to your contacts.
  • Warmup is paused for trial plans.
  • We recommend 2 to 4 weeks of warmup before campaigns, and keeping it on afterwards. Warmup placement is a signal, not a measurement of where campaign emails land.

What early results mean

  • Warmup builds sending history gradually. It does not guarantee inbox placement, and no platform can guarantee it at Gmail, Outlook or any other provider.
  • Some spam placement in the first weeks is common, especially for a new domain or one used earlier for bulk or aggressive cold email. It is not by itself a sign of a MailRush fault.
  • Reputation stays with the domain: moving from another platform does not reset or improve it.
  • Look at the trend over several days. Keep warmup on and hold campaigns from the account until most placements reach the inbox.
  • Open a ticket for a technical sign, such as authentication failing while Check DNS shows every record ready, or Sent today staying at 0 for a whole day while warming is enabled. Include that evidence.
