How does MailRush detect incoming replies?

Updated Nov 2, 2026

MailRush checks the inbox of each sending account and matches incoming messages to the emails you sent through MailRush.

Where incoming mail goes

  • A message that answers an email sent through MailRush is recorded as a reply. It appears in the Inbox, counts in the campaign's Replies and can stop follow-ups.
  • Incoming mail that does not match a MailRush email appears in the Inbox's Others tab.
  • Bounce reports and spam complaints are recorded on the Feedback Loop page, not in the Inbox.

Good to know

  • MailRush does not read the wording of replies to detect opt-outs. A "please remove me" reply is a normal reply; unsubscribe the contact yourself.
  • A new message that does not answer a MailRush email, such as one sent from a mailto: opt-out link, goes to Others: it never stops follow-ups or unsubscribes the contact.
  • Only mail that reaches the sending account's inbox can be detected.
